Landscape and water feature concept to detailed design for 5 Star Hotel and serviced apartment tower located on the Burj Dubai site.
The scope of work covered concept to detailed design of all hard and soft landscape works, landscape lighting, swimming pools and water features. The design features podium level 1000m2 terraced swimming pool, that is at the heart of the curving hotel.
Numerous water features were created throughout the project, adding animation to the site while visually linking the arrival and circulation sequence.

This prestigious project consists of two towers, an Office
Tower and a Hotel Tower. The project is located in the Busi -
ness Bay area of downtown Dubai and lies between the Burj
Khalifa and the Shk. Zayed Highway in close proximity to the
metro rail station. The Hotel is to be operated by a reknowned
Hotel operator – The Oberoi Group and is planned for comple-
tion by late 2011
A common podium connects the two towers and it is sur-
rounded by water features and landscaped grounds. The two
towers are serviced by 4 basements reserved for parking and
service rooms. The cooling system will be carried out using
the District Cooling available for the area
The Office Tower has 34 floors + Roof and consists of 4 differ -
ent types of offices to suit different needs. The office will be
serviced by 6 lifts and one service lift.
The Hotel Tower has 29 floor + Roof and consists of 4 different
kinds of rooms and including the VIP Suite. The Hotel boasts
a large Ball Room and has a temperature controlled open to
sky swimming pool. The hotel will be serviced by 10 lifts and
a service lift.

Al Ain cultural and convention centre masterplan is designed to be a destination for the people of Al Ain. This unique development is centred around a Cultural and convention complex formed around three distinct oasis creating a public heart to the development.
The masterplan includes entertainment, leisure, commercial, residential, serviced apartments, and hotel sectors that are zoned to create quiet private zones and prominent public and commercial zones that together create 24 hour, cohesive, vibrant mixed use development in tune with the surrounding context.
A 290 key Hyatt Regency Hotel has been designed as a world class hotel. Facilities includes a muti purpose hall with a capacity of 500 pers, 2 restaurants, 1 bar, gym & spa and a swimming pool.
The development is designed specifically for the unique character and environment of Al Ain by providing green oases, shaded courtyards that capture the prevailing winds, and solid, tactile stone buildings. This meant it is both rooted in its surroundings and is environmentally responsible.

A 511 key Movenpick Hotel & Resort Complex has been de-
signed as a world class resort style hotel. The two building
complexes have common entities and their relationship is ex -
pressed by the building and spatial form and facade fenestra-
tion.
SCL were commissioned to be the lead consultant and develop
the detail design of the East West Hotel located at Yas Island
which is a minimum sized tower design of 9 levels above a
podium responds to its site and takes advantage of the views
and delineate the functionality of the guest rooms (towers)
to the FOH/BOH functions of the podium. The form and con -
figuration of the towers is such to maximize the western views
from the hotel to the Welcome Pavillion, Ferrari Experience
being at the south and the Retail Mall on the north side. Mov-
enpick Hotel & Resorts maximizes the views whilst providing
the privacy and separation between the two operations.

We were appointed the MEP consultants responsible for the service design and its supervision on site for this 250 bed 4-star hotel operated by the Shangri-La Group in Dubai. Our Scope of works included complete services design including guest rooms, outlets, health club & pool design & meeting & banquet hall services design. The design services were provided in accordance with the Group’s standards. Our specialists in lighting design and air-conditioning systems participated throughout the design process working closely with the architects and interior designers to ensure a cohesive design. On site our experienced engineers ensured that construction, installation and commissioning of the services was in accordance with the design.

SCL were commissioned to provide design supervision servic -
es for the largest indoor water park in the Middle East being
developed as part of the Bahrain City Centre development in
Manama, Bahrain.
We were directly appointed by the well known developers Al
Majid Al Futtaim Investments LLC. in association wih water
park specialists to create an indoor water park connected to
the hotel and shopping mall. The chief challenge was to en -
sure that the water park had commercially viable attractions,
layout and that the climate control design could sustain all the
live planting.

Shankland Cox was engage to provide a Master plan for this
Olympic specification white water kayak training facility, set
against the backdrop of Jebel Hafeet mountain in Al Ain. Two
lakes and three kayak/raf courses of differing degree of dif -
ficulty, define the white water portion of the project. A wave
pool consisting of 3.5m high wave (highest in the world as of
this publication), wet beach, dry beach, shade structures, ca -
bana’s and restaurants support buildings define this part of
the project.
The project has been designed to fit within the natural des -
ert/mountainscape context and will be landscaped accord-
ingly, with a mix of natives, rocks/boulders, wadi features,
observation decks and site furnishing.
