Shankland Cox were appointed as joint venture partners to Chalabi Architects. SCL brought their experts of local condition construction techniques and approvals to this exciting project.
Shankland Cox carried out MEP, Structural review, authority approvals and supervision of instructions in JV with Chalabi Architects.
The Desert Learning Centre is a tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed and has achieved an Estidama rating of S Pearls, the highest rating on the Estidama scale.

SCL were invited to create a Maritime Cultural & popular music centre that highlights the unique character of Kaohsuing city while satisfying the needs of the local people, industries and local trends. The concept design proposal demanded:
- Providing high quality performance venues & gathering th energy to galvanize Kaohsuing into a music fulcrum.
To construct a maritime culture and passenger service tourist centre.
Furnish citizens with quality leisure space by integrating waterfront green belts and opens spaces.
Build an educational model for environmental conservation by incorporating green building and green energy systems.
Sharif Medical City

Shankland Cox has been commissioned to undertake a review of the existing masterplan prepared for Sharif Medical City, located in Lahore, Pakistan. The site comprises 70 hectares of land, with an existing hospital and associated buildings located on the site.
The Client’s vision includes the addition of an educational precinct and extension of the existing hospital building. The site will also accommodate an increase in ancillary buildings, and supply accommodation for students and workers.
The masterplan achieves the following:
Optimal use of the site, continuing and complimenting the existing use
A logical approach to building placement
Clustering of associated uses and buildings
A logical vehicular network that allows appropriate access throughout the site
Pedestrian links through the development to reduce car dependency for short trips; and
An open space hierarchy that defines the nature of the recreational areas provided.
Shankland Cox will ultimately proceed with the detailed elements of the masterplan, providing, among others, plot limitations, architectural theming and guidelines, and site landscape design.
